A Faithful Witness

We must not compromise our faith, but hold on to the truth that is found in Jesus!

Will you be willing to be that “faithful witness” till the end?  Antipas was one.  Revelation 2:13 states: “I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is.  And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.”

There is no denying the fact that Satan is dwelling in America and has a throne set up here.  Consider the 55,000+ aborted babies since Roe vs. Wade, consider the fall of morality in the last thirty years, and consider how rampant pornography is and how human trafficking is an issue in the U.S.  There is no doubt that Satan is alive in America especially now when we find ourselves fighting for religious freedom that our country was built upon.

Antipas was a faithful witness because he held on to the name of Jesus and his faith in Him.  In fact, the scripture tells us that he was put to death for His faith in Jesus.  Tradition has it that Antipas was slow roasted to death for his faith.  I wonder how many of us are willing to give up our idols or our lives for our faith in Jesus Christ.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer in his book “The Cost of Discipleship” made this statement; “Discipleship in essence never consists in a decision for this or that specific action; it is always a decision for or against Jesus.” How many times have we given in to our excuses about doing “this” or “that” instead of going to church to learn more about God and to worship Him?  The truth that we all have to understand is, that every decision we make about the Lord is one of either being “for” or “against” Him.

The book of First Samuel says it best; “Only fear the LORD, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.”  When we think of all the great things that God has done for us, we can only choose to stop compromising our faith and start living for the truth that is found in Jesus.

Are you willing now to be that faithful witness that God desires you to be?

Let every day that God gives you, be a day that you choose to faithfully follow Him.
