Living Stones

We must be the “living stones” that shows the world the “Solid Rock.”

1 Peter 2:4-5 states:  “Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

In order to be the living witnesses that God desires us to be, we must make the sacrifices necessary to show the world, Jesus. When you look into a mirror, what do you see in your reflection?  Do you see a person living for the Lord or a person living for your own desires?  What areas in your life are there, that do not fit the phrase “holy and acceptable unto God?”

To reflect Jesus in our lives, we must first seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness.  When we put God first in our lives, everything else will fall in to place.  Philippians 2:15 says that we should become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.

The next time you look into a mirror, light a candle and hold it in front of you.  Turn the lights off and see your reflection in the flickering flame of the candle.  Notice how the light of the candle chases away the darkness around you and brings you reflection in the mirror.  Take time to think for a moment as you are looking in the mirror.  Is your life lit up with the light of Christ?  Are you doing the will of God?

Let us all make the right choice and become the “living stones” that reflect our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is our “Solid Rock.”
