Needing a Hero

We need a hero that will stand up for what is holy, righteous, and truthful!

2 Samuel 23:20-21 tells us about a valiant warrior name Beniaiah who one day “had gone down and killed a lion in the midst of a pit on a snowy day.”  The scripture also tells us how Beniaiah took down a mighty Egyptian warrior; “And he killed an Egyptian, a spectacular man.  The Egyptian had a spear in his hand; so he went down to him with a staff, wrestled the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.”  Beniaiah’s efforts raised him up from being a valiant warrior under King David’s reign to being the commander of King Solomon’s entire army.

We need heroes today, Christian men and women who are not afraid to stand up for what is holy, righteous, and truthful, the Word of God.  Will you be that hero today?  2 Timothy 1:7 states: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”  The scripture also says in Psalm 27:1 “The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?  The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

When we as God’s children are willing to stand up for the truth and face our fears that is when we will rise up to victory.  Billy Sunday, and evangelistic preacher of his day, made this statement in one of his sermons: “I have drawn the sword in defense of God, home, wife, children and native land, and I will never sheathe it until the undertaker pumps me full of embalming fluid.”  We as God’s army must take up the sword of our faith, the Word of God, proclaim it and live it unto our last dying breath.

Are you willing to surrender all to be that hero that will stand up for what is holy, righteous, and truthful?

Be the hero of faith that God wants you to be today and forever!
