What To Do Now

We must let go of what we know and cling to the truth that is found in Christ.

What do we do now when coming off of celebrating Easter?  When we hear sermons about Jesus being risen from the grave and alive, how do we handle that information?  We handle it by faith, believing that what is written in God’s word is true.  Even so, what must we let go so that we can hold on to the truth that is found in Christ?

First, we must let go of fear.  We must not be afraid to trust in Jesus.  When we believe in Christ we have nothing to fear because there is no one greater than God.  Psalm 27:1 states; ‘The LORD is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?  The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”  Believing with faith in Christ will cast out all fear.

The next thing we need to let go is our pride.  Many times we think that we deserve something from God.

The Israelites were reminded by God in Deuteronomy 9:6 that He was not giving them the land across the Jordan River because of anything they have done, He was keeping His promise to Abraham.  “Therefore understand that the LORD your God is not giving you this good land to posses because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people.”   Because of our stubborn, obstinate, and rebellious nature, we do not deserve any of the blessings we receive from God.  Yet, God still loves us and demonstrated His love by allowing His Son to die on the cross for our sins.

We must let go of fear and pride and put our faith and trust in Jesus.  James 2:10 states that; “For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who had broken all of God’s laws.”  Since we all know that we have at least broken one of God’s laws, let us ask for forgiveness in Christ and start living for God.

Stop living for the crumbs of this world and start living for the riches that are found in Christ.  After all, GRACE is God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense!
